Whereas Premier Ford announced on July 29th that his government will “make sure” the Campbellville quarry “doesn’t happen one way or another”;

Whereas the top priority for residents of Milton is to protect public health during the COVID 19

pandemic, and to support an economic recovery; and

Whereas the continuing Joint Agency Review Team (JART) process is a waste of public time and public money;

Be it resolved that I endorse the demands of ACTION Milton that

  • Premier Ford act quickly to stop the Campbellville quarry, and
  • MPP Parm Gill report to the community on a regular basis regarding his efforts to ensure a swift and comprehensive decision by the provincial government to stop the Campbellville quarry

    I fully support the citizens and homeowners in Campbellville. Quarries are an aberration both in communities and in nature.

    Gravel pit extraction plans in areas such as this one was shut down for a good reason and it’s not now a good idea to put this one back in service.

    Milton is a beautiful geographic area and should not be spoiled by a quarry.

    Roger Ptolemy, father and former Milton Council member, stated very strongly in his last day of life, that we must protect the water source for Milton. No activity must disturb the source of our drinking water, something to be safeguarded. It is a treasure, it must be protected.

    He had this on his mind as he knew he was at the end of his life. He made sure he passed his message on to be heard and to provide help, if any future encroachment is to be curtailed.

    This quarry must not be allowed to proceed. It will affect negatively, millions of people.

    Please do not allow the Quarry!!! Already we are disrupted with so many trucks in this area. This is not going to help the area, no one wants it here. There are plenty of other less populated areas that can operate a quarry. This is not what we this community needs!
