Whereas Premier Ford announced on July 29th that his government will “make sure” the Campbellville quarry “doesn’t happen one way or another”;

Whereas the top priority for residents of Milton is to protect public health during the COVID 19

pandemic, and to support an economic recovery; and

Whereas the continuing Joint Agency Review Team (JART) process is a waste of public time and public money;

Be it resolved that I endorse the demands of ACTION Milton that

  • Premier Ford act quickly to stop the Campbellville quarry, and
  • MPP Parm Gill report to the community on a regular basis regarding his efforts to ensure a swift and comprehensive decision by the provincial government to stop the Campbellville quarry

    I hope governments at all levels put a stop to this long drawn out process soon. ACTION has done an admiral job of keeping local citizens engaged & proactive but we’re running out of patience & just want to see JDCL go away.

    The commitment of Premier Ford and MPP Gill were very clear and very much appreciated. The Premier has willingly used MZOs on many occasions in the province to facilitate development projects, it is time that he uses the MZO to stand behind his commitment and stop this application. It is a waste of time and tax dollars to conduct an EA and to continue the JART efforts when the Premier has already clearly communicated his intention to stop this quarry – the Premier has the tool at his disposal, time to use it!

    We need creative solutions, not this old style approach.
