Whereas Premier Ford announced on July 29th that his government will “make sure” the Campbellville quarry “doesn’t happen one way or another”;

Whereas the top priority for residents of Milton is to protect public health during the COVID 19

pandemic, and to support an economic recovery; and

Whereas the continuing Joint Agency Review Team (JART) process is a waste of public time and public money;

Be it resolved that I endorse the demands of ACTION Milton that

  • Premier Ford act quickly to stop the Campbellville quarry, and
  • MPP Parm Gill report to the community on a regular basis regarding his efforts to ensure a swift and comprehensive decision by the provincial government to stop the Campbellville quarry

    I fully support ACTION Milton and the residents of Nassagaweya and Campbellville areas, and share in their concerns about the negative effects of this kind of operation on air quality and our watersheds.

    We are FULLY supportive of your efforts to coordinate a strong and unified response in the fight against COVID-19. However, the simultaneous battle to save lives AND preserve the environmental well being of our community is truly exhausting. PLEASE relieve Milton residents of this extraneous burden by quickly eliminating the threat that this JDCL application poses to our community so that we can dedicate our efforts to the most urgent matter we have faced in our lifetimes; Minimizing the loss of life to COVID-19 while we await a medical solution that can return some version of normalcy to our world.

    JART has done a great job analyzing JDCL’s reports; finding a multitude of issues. And they are sticking to their principles. However now that Premier Ford And MPP Gill have asserted that the quarry will not go ahead, the process for approval needs to end; including JART which is funded by public money. Thank you JART for the work done on our behalf to date.

    Please stop the quarry – it will affect the health and well being of not only Campbellville residents, but those in Milton and the surrounding area. Thank you.
