Whereas Premier Ford announced on July 29th that his government will “make sure” the Campbellville quarry “doesn’t happen one way or another”;

Whereas the top priority for residents of Milton is to protect public health during the COVID 19

pandemic, and to support an economic recovery; and

Whereas the continuing Joint Agency Review Team (JART) process is a waste of public time and public money;

Be it resolved that I endorse the demands of ACTION Milton that

  • Premier Ford act quickly to stop the Campbellville quarry, and
  • MPP Parm Gill report to the community on a regular basis regarding his efforts to ensure a swift and comprehensive decision by the provincial government to stop the Campbellville quarry

    the aggregate industry will exploit local lands adding few new jobs for new locals, take away areas used by families for outdoor activity and enjoyment and most likely not have any true oversight or social responsibility that can be enforced.

    An environmental review is only a first step. The affects are easily seen from visits to other sites. Ugly and left behind.

    Health and quality of life for residents should be the top priority. The Premier needs to keep his promise – period.

    No more endangerment of our drinking water supply. It’s not rocket science, People.

    Campbellville is pristine village from an earlier era. It is a great place to visit and to remember. It does not deserve to be destroyed by a quarry.

    Quarries should not exist near residential areas (human health), should not destroy endangered species and should not contaminate the environment. Government should put their money where their mouth is and do what they can to make keep their residents safe, preserve the flora and fauna and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by not increasing the traffic of diesel driven trucks.
